Apple MacBook Air (M2) Overview:
M2 Chip:
The new MacBook Air (2022) is the first laptop with the second-gen Apple Silicon M2 chip. Like the M1 chip, the new chip is based on unified memory architecture and focuses on power efficiency. Built on a second-gen 5nm node, Apple M2 has 20 billion transistors.
The M2 chip is 1.4x faster than the M1, with an 18 percent faster CPU, a 35 percent more powerful GPU, and a 40 percent faster Neural Engine. Geekbench benchmarks have confirmed that the M2 chip is up to 20 percent faster than the M1 chip when it comes to multi-core performance.
Larger Display:
Apple has cleaned up the space at the top to make room for a menu bar. It results in a bar-shaped notch for the 1080p FaceTime camera.
New Design:
In addition to the interior, Apple has also revised the design of the MacBook Air M2. The 2022 model moves away from the traditional wedge design and looks like a MacBook Pro. It has a metal unibody made from recycled aluminum. It is 11.3 mm thick and weighs about 1.25 kg.
Apple offers even more color options. The MacBook Air M2 is now available in midnight and starlight shades in addition to the usual space gray and silver options.
MagSafe Charging:
MagSafe charging returns to free up the system's two Thunderbolt ports for other duties, and a 3.5mm audio jack that supports high-impedance headphones should suffice for private listening. Battery life is rated at up to 18 hours of video playback and with fast charging and the optional 67W USB-C adapter, you can get up to a 50 percent charge in 30 minutes.
Audio Setup:
Apple MacBook Air (M2) features a quad-speaker setup and a three-mic array. The latter is backed by Apple’s beamforming algorithm. The speakers support Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos. To include all of it in a small chassis, Apple has placed the speaker and audio setup in the space between the display and keyboard.

Apple MacBook Air M2 Price and Availability
The MacBook Air M2 has a starting price of $1,299 in the US for the 8/256GB variant. Apple has not given any specific timeline but as per leaks the MacBook Air M2 will be available for purchase from July 15. Likewise, pre-orders will commence from July 8.
